A Hollywood blockbuster has to make twice its production budget at the box office worldwide to break even and preferably with the budget itself covered by the US box office as the foreign distributors take up to 70% of the earnings in their country. PR made double its budget overall but only made a quarter of that in the US. The thing flopped and there will never be a sequel because of it.

Who gives a shit about the Pacific Rim 2? This shit was just a rip-off of the deity Michael Bay's style and didn't come close to the cinematic insanity of Transformers. Don't even try to say it wasn't cause both are full of stock characters, giant robots, and VFX debauchery. Only difference is Bay shoots his battles in the daytime, has hotter babes, and better destruction.
