It does look similar, but I hope it can transcend comparisons. Larry Brown's book was published 22 years ago and is my favorite novel.

I was very unhappy when this was announced with Cage involved (my dream adaptation would star Titus Welliver), but the pics give me a little hope.

This sounds a lot like Mud with the only difference being that Nic Cage plays an ex con whereas Matt McConaughey was a con. Even the role played by the kid is the same right down to the troubled family.

This kid, Sheridan, is wonderful. And a subdued Cage can be pretty amazing. It sounds like Mud, but Mud was horrible. I pray this will be properly dark.
