Especially if Gondry is cooking up something that we've never seen before as far as action goes. People will line up if ground is broken. It doesn't have to be Matrix, but as long as it looks cool and original they'll be okay.

The Green Hornet is pretty unknown, especially when considering it's supposed to be a "big" movie, and is being made in today's economic conditions.

I don't think December is a good time. Even the religion-skeptical Golden Compass seemed more appropriate for the December season.
