I always read Playlist's stories and agree with them most of the time, but not always of course 😉 An offer to Portman's makes as much sense as an offer to Sandra Bullock would (recent Oscar win + huge box-office power), or ScarJo did (recent Tony win + developing box-office power + newly acquired geek cred). My point is that with so many casting stories we've had on this already, Portman news don't stand out as any more likely to turn out to be true then ScarJo news did for example.

What's so hard to believe that she's been offered the role, especially after a super buzzed-about turn in Black Swan that could lead to an Oscar buzz.

Cuaron isn't dumb, he knows this project is in jeopardy so it makes total sense to offer her the role.

Whether she takes it or not is another matter though.

Readers need to learn what exactly to be skeptical about (that Weisz piece for example) and I think we do a very good job of trying to explain what's what. You just have to actually read our stories.

Honestly, I don't believe any casting news ragarding this project anymore. Just a month ago trades reported WB was dead-set on either Scarlett Johansson or Blake Lively and the decision between these would be made in a week or two. Now they've been reduced to just one of 238975634 other names dropped. I'm waiting for official announcement from WB confirming who's replacing Jolie 'cause right now, it looks more like reps are planting their clients' names all over the net to get them some free buzz.

Bobby, read that report with eyes open. That's a non-denial. "We did not announce anything this morning in relation to Gravity," Portman's publicist said.

of course they didn't. She's been offered the role, her publicist is not going to announce that. Decisions still need to be made. But don't buy that bs for a second.

Finally they have worked out that female scientists need to be brunettes. Blonde doesn't work in space, I'd prefer Rachel Weisz but cant argue with Natalie (isn't she some kind of Science or Math geek in reality too).
