Do they ever even bother to look at submitted Indian films? Taare Zameen Par was excellent. Last year’s India entry (Eklavya) was not as good, though. And two years ago India should have put the incredible Omkara (an Indian interpretation of Othello) instead of the also-good-but-maybe-less-appealing-to-Oscar-voters Rang de Basanti. Omkara and RdB also have great music, too, for you Playlist fans.

Nick, you are correct. Nice work. The Edge of heaven was on there too which is nice to see. Neither made the shortlist though unfortunately.

I am pretty sure Silent Light made it onto last years shortlist? Idk. I remember something like that.

I think it’s a huge shame that Mexico didn’t nominate “Silent Light,” but i haven’t seen the film they did nominate so it’s hard for me to say.

Also, ‘Light’ isn’t even spoken in Spanish and doesn’t feature Mexicans so that’s probably why.

Sweden didn’t nominate “Låt den rätte komma in”. Shame. I think I may have enjoyed it more than “Doubt”. Random comparison, I know.
