And the fact still remains that Japanese citizens don’t care about Scarlett’s casting. The creator doesn’t care, either, and you can take that as him not wanting to bite the hand that feeds him, but you have no evidence of that. So believe whatever you want to believe.

And just because you’re not personally a fan of Scarlett doesn’t mean you can accurately predict whether or not she’ll be good in this role. You’re obviously biased against her, and you can’t see past that, so it’s a moot point.

2. I don’t get how people ask for more diversity in films and then get upset when people diversify a film. Is it just because they didn’t “diversify” it the way they wanted to? I know Hollywood has a history of white-washing, but asking for diversity and then getting angry at diversifying shows how self-centered these SJWs are.

The Director doesn’t really get Ghost in the Shell and definitely has zero business trying to ” diversify ” a story that isn’t really his to diversify. Sorry but that’s a bunch of BS. Rila Fukushima could have easily been Mokoto and Scarlett has no place in a story about the Japanese.

And no, Scarlett has not had a good movie in years. Her blockbusters are because she’s playing second and third fiddle to the main star. This will just be Lucy: Part 2.

And chances are, if you’re not seeing the problem with white washing, chances are, you’re likely white so you don’t get how it’s messed up. And if you’re a person of color, you really shouldn’t act like being offended is stupid. It’s very valid since Asians are usually either fighters, hackers or punchlines, IF even hires them.

I agree there are a lot of talented Asian actresses out there who deserve good roles, but I still think Scarlett will be great in this role. She’s overexposed, no doubt, but people forget that she IS a talented actress and the fact that she can do action helps too.

And as for the allegations of white-washing, there’s a lot worse instances of that in the film industry. At least with Ghost in the Shell, the director is trying to make a world where nationalities don’t matter. Besides, from the business perspective, yes, you need a big name actress to sell the film. It may not satisfy people’s sense of fairness, but that’s the tough-shit rule. At least they didn’t go with a shitty actress or God forbid a popular singer…

And again, the fact that Japanese people aren’t offended renders the whole thing moot for me. If the people that are supposedly not being represented are excited to see Scarlett in the role, then who’re the people making a big stink…?

She is white and not s great actress. They think the nude scenes will sell the movie if it is rated R. What a joke.
