And if I'm not mistaken, Lucas was a generous donor in the Canadian Film Board's effort to preserve and promoting Arthur Lipsett's work.

That's what so sad and baffling about Lucas. Somehow the biggest hack of all — this side of 1990 — was once a true student of film-as-art. By comparison, even today's "arthouse" filmmakers were always making fairly conventional narrative films.

It's about DAMN time!
When his buddy Steven Speilberg came to realize "re-editing" ET was a mistake, George should have taken the hint.
I would rather have seen something new from the man over the last twenty years than yet ANOTHER rehash of the Star Wars films. Red Tails was visually impressive, but lacking the heart and soul of character drama it needed to be resonant to anyone.

Perhaps he's rediscover why he loved film in the first place and how to pen a dramatic script once again.
