I saw Stat Wars Awaken. I was disappointed. I believe JJ just made a new version of New Hope. I didn\’t feel he gave the audience anything new. The film did not have the visual effects I hoped it would. I did not have one jump out my seat moment. Lucas was truly a visionary ahead of his time .

@JZ – You\’re wrong, that\’s not all that matters. It\’s SUPER IMPORTANT, but the universe (planets, spaceships, costumes, visuals) are what makes Star Wars so unique and special.

The planets and spaceships aren\’t the most important thing in The Force Awakens. JJ and Disney managed to create good characters with a good chemistry, that\’s all that matters. Lucas completely screwed up that aspect in the prequels.

"They wanted to do a retro movie,” Lucas said. “They said, "Every movie I work very hard to make them completely different, with different planets, with different spaceships, make it new.” Except that half the prequels was spent on just showing us exposition from the original trilogy, things that we already knew and didn\’t need to see acted out. The prequels were not good….Disney was wise to stay away from them….and wise to do their own thing. Lucas has repeatedly made it clear over the years that he makes Star Wars movies for himself…he doesn\’t care about the fans or the audience. Disney was very smart to give the series a reboot with a blending of the original trilogy characters and feel with the new characters mixed in….now they\’ve reset the series and can take it in all sorts of interesting things. Lucas is just butt hurt they didn\’t drool all over his treatments.

That we celebrate a film that simply repeats the ideas Lucas came up with while simultaneously dragging him through the mud to make him pay for not sharing our love of it — this shoes that we nerds are not only entitled, thankless a%%holes, but oblivious ones as well.
