In reply to Josh King. What divorce? The tabloids make it clear every other week that they haven't filed any papers and he hasn't even moved out. His personal life hasn't changed one iota in the last two years. Can't really use that as an excuse.

In reply to Josh King. Completely agree. I know it's not cool, but I feel sorry for Ben Affleck. I think he's had a hard go of it personally, in interviews he clearly seems depressed and yet he has an insane schedule of work to keep up with. What he needs is a some time to rest get well.

I’m still waiting for someone to make the far-superior prequel to LIVE BY NIGHT, Dennis Lehane’s THE GIVEN DAY, which follows Coughlin as a young man. I’d heard Sam Raimi was attached, and then… nothing. It’s a better story altogether, which made me wonder why Affleck chose LIVE BY NIGHT.

To do a little psycho analyzing myself, I felt it couldn’t be possible for Live By Night to be great. Or at least I felt the chances were extremely low, based on… Affleck’s personal life.

An insane schedule of late packed with films (BVS, The Accountant, Live By Night, Justice League, and early The Batman prep) along with an unfortunate divorce, this guy isn’t super human. I fully expected his directing project to suffer. I hoped it wouldn’t. I think he’s under an enormous amount of stress these days, based on some of his interviews
