Channing Tatum cannot act to save his life ( he even referred to himself as a bad actor ) , and he doesn't have an ounce of singing talent. Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a passable singing voice – not a strong singing voice for this material . Plus, both of these actors are not manly enough for their roles.

One blogger recommended Hugh Jackman, Jeremy Renner ( surprisingly lovely singing voice ) , or Robbie Williams. I completely agree .

C'mon, it could be fun! It's not 1955 anymore, folks. Brando and Sinatra are done doing movies. Let's move on. Believe it or not there's actually a lot of great young talent out there, and I think JGL at least could do this right.

As for the rest of the casting, I hope they don't reuse any of the Les Mis/Chicago/Moulin Rouge! casts, at least not yet while the movie musical is still being (slowly) revived. Let's keep it interesting and spread the wealth!

Sky has been around the block more than a few times and amassed a reputation with a pair of dice as well as the ladies. Nathan has been engaged to his overripe nightclub chanteuse fiancee for 14 years. Who's kidding whom? A Gen Y slacker version of an American classic, arguably one of the greatest musicals in the musical theater canon? Oh, please! Hugh Jackman and someone like Jack Black (if he could sing) would be much better casting. This isn't High School Musical Part 4.
