Eccentricities was brilliant for 50+ minutes — a funny, moody masterpiece — and then the final scene just left me shrugging. That's it? Really?

My proposed alternate ending: Everything works out for the couple…and then the train Macario's currently on crashes and kills him.

I side with Sam's review totally on the ECCENTRICITIES debate-- the film is an apt account of a socially restrictive era and an achingly sad fable of social class refinement, much like Jane Campion's BRIGHT STAR.

An easy A-.

I gotta get some sleep as I have four films tomorrow, but I did some brief digging and IFC *and* Sundance Selects are showing the film On Demand, but from what I can tell (and seeing as how the film doesn't exist on their website) IFC is not the official distributor. It seems to be solely a cable deal.

Re: Eccentricities. I think somewhere between you and Sam. I didn't think it was genius and I didn't hate it. Kinda loved the ending actually, really funny and actually very, "brilliantly cynical," but not sure the lead up is that amazing.

I think I'd probably give it a B or B- and call it a day.
