Kick-Ass got the same reactions, and it was a horrible movie. This guy Matthew Vaughn, like certain others, has the \”geek blogger\” stamp of approval (Joss Whedon, JJ Abrams, etc) where they will fawn over anything he does regardless.

Lets wait for some REAL reviews and reactions….ones that aren\’t from bloggers handpicked to go to a studio lot for an early screening…obviously, they want to be invited back so they are going to be positive.

Not to mention all of these websites are basically being used as marketing/buzz/promo material for the studio…allowed to say just enough to get positive word of mouth out there but not allowed to use any detail, therefore even if they loved the film but had one minor thing they didn\’t like, they can\’t go in to that detail in their \”initial reaction.\”

pathetic – and I do like a visit a lot of the sites that reviewed, err, initial reactioned -it, and I\’m dissapointed.

Edward…I did read that part. No need to be defensive, not calling out the Playlist, just talking about the stuff mentioned….I mean, on one hand, film bloggers want to be taken seriously like normal media, but then they do stuff like this and it\’s hard to take them seriously

Geek bloggers like to kiss some directors\’ asses even when they make bad product. Matthew Vaughn is one of them. Kick Ass was certainly not a good film and neither was Thor. They read the comic book or play with a toy and think the whole word likes this shit. Cred is out the freakin\’ window.

Ha! That made me laugh.

Cinephiles should never trust the geek crowd. I\’m speaking as a member of both groups, but I more closely identify myself as a cinephile. I\’ll believe the hype if David Edelstein, Time Out New York, etc. jump on board.

I\’m tired of superhero movies, but like you, I\’m also excited about this one.

Yeah people liked \”Thor\” but read some of those positive RT reviews. They\’re not terribly glowing or gushing, a lot of them more or less say it was \”pretty good.\”

Even the early reviews on Thor were rather reserved, and excusing Thor because he\’s not 1st tier and is a hokey concept. I figured it would end up in eighties or high seventies. And none of the reviews are what you\’d call glowing.

These reviews don\’t seem to have reservations. I\’ve been looking forward to this. And I watched Kick-ass. I really liked it, but sometimes DVD is better for some movies (wished I\’d waited for Thor). But Kick-ass was very low budget. I like a movie that entertains on a low budget. Hopefully Vahgn will keep a lot of that energy going.

This looks good so far.
