Kristen Stewart is the most hyped actress in the world, not the best. She has no Oscar nominations, no Golden Globe nominations, etc. Jennifer Lawrence, Saorise Ronan, even Brie Larson can act her off the screen. She\’s not in their league. That foreign award that no one ever heard of does not make her a great actress, it makes for great PR. Too bad she can\’t attract an audience for her great performances, either. She and hr team may have wooed and won over the critics, but we\’re side-eyeing them because she just played herself in Sils Maria, employing every tick and nervous habit she\’s displayed in every other film she\’s ever made. There was no acting involved. Her fans need to take it down a notch, we have second-hand embarrassment for them.

Cafe Society is not in competition, it\’s just for show, and the French don\’t care that Woody Allen is an accused pedophile. Same disregard they have for Kristen Stewart\’s scandalous cheating past. They give them a pass and even reward them. Not so much in the US. She bit her lip, played with her hair, fidgeted and huffed her way through Sils Maria, where she was supposed to be displaying such outstanding acting. She just played herself, so it will be interesting to see if she could finally create a real character for Woody. Regardless, she will probably be praised anyway by the tone deaf critics who seem to be blind to all her ticks she brings to every film.

I was able to read the synopsis with a straight face until this line "acclaimed actors including Blake Lively, Parker Posey and Steve Carell" — how Blake Lively is considered acclaimed let alone placed in the same sentence as actually acclaimed actors like Posey and Carrell is beyond me. Girl can\’t even mumble her way through her a scene.

Congratulations to the entire team of Woody Allen\’s film. I hope it\’ll receive the critical acclamation it deserves. Hopefully Kristen\’s other film Personal Shopper by Olivier Assayas will get in too. Fingers crossed.
