Marvel and DC based superhero movies are about as sure a thing as big-budget CGI kids movies these days, which is not nothing. Even the worst of the lot, like Daredevil and Ghost rider made over $100,000,000 domestically, even with February openings. I think the only outright duds Marvel and DC have had were Elektra, Catwoman, and both Punisher movies.

And really, it\'s not like there are a lot of these things coming out. Next year is a big one with four or five, but last year and the year before only had a couple. How is this a glut?

I think all three of these movies will under perform. Super hero films are like the housing market and right now the market is over-built. The bubble is going to burst. Beyond Superman, Batman and the occasional other superhero that catches on (like X-Men and Iron Man), the general public doesn\'t care all that much about comic book characters. To succeed they have to resonate on a level beyond the run of the mill good vs. evil stories, and none of these look like they do just yet.
