Adrien Brody was in The thin red line too ! I remember him because he didn't say a word. I learned later that all his lines were cut. But for me it was a powerful performance because he was speechless. As if the war left him speechless

Cuba isn't worth discussing-just tragic. But Gawker do your homework-Jim Caviezel is the star of AMC's new spy series. Hello, great stuff @ AMC like Mad Men. Good for Caviezel-he's a true talent. And I guess he's not so right winged--he's working with Sir Ian in it too. And throwing the ladies in this is iffy--it's hard not to just play the wife or mom in Hollywood no one is writing big roles for them and please don't be ethic or over 35. I love that Joan Allen is doing everything; she is already a Tony winner so she's not slumming when she does Broadway-she's actually giving a master class to all the non-talents out there. Instead of worrying about the ladies try to figure out what happen to Jude Law instead--baffling that one is.

Interesting! I am learning so much about Caviezel today. Sad, he was so damn good in "The Thin Red Line." I can't get enough of that movie (pretentious as it might be to many).

I read somewhere that Caviezel refused to take any parts that were off the Christian path or something. That might limit his success unless a good Crusades film comes along.

Caveziel doesn't get work because he's apparently a full-on Christian blowhard who's impossible to work with, and he won't appear in movies with kissing, much less sex scenes.

Isabella Rossellini needs to fire her agent. Her work with Guy Maddin is golden, as are her mobile sketches, but everything she's done that hasn't been set in Winnipeg has been at best banal.

I don't know. Brody was in King Kong, too, right? In the lead, no less. Not terrific, but some heavy box office.

Maybe it's hindsight, but the majority of these people just got lucky (Cuba in Maguire, Graham in Boogie Nights, e.g.). Graham is really hard to watch, especially when not being given two craps' worth of direction.

I think Gooding Jr. and Graham couldn't have succeeded in Oscar-baiting material if they tried to ride their waves of critical praise. I couldn't see either of those two turning into Meryl Streeps or Morgan Freemans at any length.

The key, it seems, is definitely to have an agent that's going to keep you in quality, indie-leaning roles for a few more years. You can get some big acclaim for one role, but you've got to keep backing it all up before letting something like "Snow Dogs" mark you for life.

I would also, if I were any of these people's agents, rule out SNL appearances, commercials (which Brody seems to be fond of) and anything that's not another serious dramatic role.
