I thought some of the spookiest moments were in the opening credits where there actually were some \”did that mirror just move moments\”. Still, I thought Lin Shaye was excellent because she seems to realize how campy this movie really is. Overall I enjoyed it, but it\’s nothing special and certainly not a classic by any stretch.

I described her as birdlike purposefully, in so much as she doesn\’t seem like she possesses the physicality to either 1.) Give birth to three children or 2.) Fight off a supernatural invasion. She\’s too willowy, and it doesn\’t help that all the script gives her to do is run around and scream and cower in fear. Jobeth Williams in \”Poltergeist,\” which I bring up because it\’s clearly the touchstone \”Insidious\” is riffing on, is proactive, smart, and strong; character traits that the filmmakers behind \”Insidious\” couldn\’t bring themselves to award Byrne. So, yes, \”birdlike\” was a shortcut description; hopefully this illuminates its usage.
