Knowing nothing of it except the trailer, what am I supposed to be expecting aside from fights and laughs? Is the basic premise of the film not that there are seven quip-filled chopsocky one-on-one battles? I'll go looking for psychological depth and complex plotting elsewhere - if SP gives good fight and good joke, then surely it has delivered exactly what it promises?

I dunno how it reads cause i honestly haven't had a chance to read it, but I spoke to kevin before he wrote this and I think it might be safe to say he was getting fairly sick of Scott Pilgrim going in and then was pleasantly surprised. He mentioned that the crowd loved it, but c'mon, no one here loves a movie because the crowd loves it. That's asinine.

Joey, you didn't like it. We get it. Again, we saw the movie with a bunch of fanboys are made that pretty clear. I said I'm pretty much the film's core audience to some degree, full disclosure. Not sure what you want us to do here. We saw the film at Comic Con and Fantasia because *that's where it was screening.*

If it was screening in a retirement home we would've told you what the vibe in the room was there. But it didn't.

I enjoyed for all the reasons in the piece and in the review. You didn't, that's cool too bro.

That's my point, though. I feel like you're choosing to write the review from a specific angle so you can get away with not being as critical of this film as you of others. And as a reader, I find that frustrating.

Hey guys, I make it pretty plain in the piece: the film plays well to it's core fans (Comic Con, Fantasia) folks but those outside that group may not like it.

This writer is in both camps and really enjoyed it. No, it's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun.

I'm calling bullshit. Be honest with yourselves. This movie is a mess. Just because a room of fans cheered throughout the movie does not mean it's any good, which is what your review is basically saying to me. Yes, there are laughs throughout and yes, the fight sequences are well executed, but that's about it. I went into this with really low expectations (though hoping to like it), and it was still disappointing. I honestly can't believe you guys are being completely sincere here after following your reviews and opinions for a couple years.
