"It could be that we've tended to find Hunnam a blank screen presence" -- alright, you can hate SOA for many reasons but this is just stupid. Hunnam is really great as Jax Teller and keeps you rooting for the ultimate bad guy. You shouldn't like him but give credit where it's due - Hunnam is able to make Teller likable and intriguing. It shouldn't work but it does.

Your criticism of Sons of Anarchy makes it sound like you have either never watched the series of have watched 2-3 episodes of each season and come to a conclusion. Yes, it's brutal and very, very bloody but there's also a really great story that plays out over the course of 6, now 7, seasons. Also, SOA is one of the only shows where you actively root for the 2 leads - Hunnam and Siff - to stay together... power of love, blah blah, all that good stuff. That's why the tragedy in Season 6 is still so hard to stomach.

One of my ongoing frustrations is not being able to see British TV until such time as it comes out on DVD or eventually shows up on BBC America. There are so many empty cable channels filled with garbage that no one but no one ever watches, you would think a few of them could be filled with dual programming from across the pond for Anglophiles in the US.
