God, I love Paul Verhoeven. A truly intelligent, misunderstood director who really understands movies. This guy knows how its done. The world needs more Verhoeven.

I do love his 20 year old movies, but I would also like to get through just one week without seeing "yet another" interview from Weller (doing remakes himself) or Verhoeven putting down other movies, remakes, and younger directors while the way-too-many obsequious website writers fawn over their every snark. He seemed far more anxious to talk about 'them young whippersnappers' than to promote and discuss his current work or his plans for his own future projects. After reading this, I can't tell you anything about what HE is doing now, it was never discussed in this article. It reminds me too much of the old farts in my family talking their glory days and hassling the young men in the family as 'weaklings', or of Clint Eastwood putting down Obama talking to an empty chair.
