The sight of Ron Perlman in drag alone should inform you that “3, 2, 1…Frankie Go Boom” may just be the oddest comedy you see this year. But it also may be one of the funniest. Premiering earlier this year at SXSW where it picked up some good buzz, the sophomore feature from Jordan Roberts is a far cry from his Christopher Walken/Josh Lucas starring debut “Around The Bend,” but you’ll be glad for his radical shift in direction.
Starring Charlie Hunnam, Lizzy Caplan and Chris O’Dowd, the story centers on Frankie (Hunnam), who has to go into damage control mode when his brother Bruce (O’Dowd) puts a sex tape on the web involving himself and Lassie (Caplan) that goes viral. Toss in a transgendered Perlman and rehabbing Chris Noth, and you have something that is truly unique and certainly doesn’t hold anything back. And in this exclusive clip from the film, we learn exactly why Lassie finds herself in the arms of Frankie to begin with. Here’s a clue: it involves a hilariously tragic incident of naked tag.
