Knowing it was Wayne Wang as director,and set in both modern day
and 18th century Shanghai, I knew the \”JOY\” would be mine.
Produced by women, the exquisite story tells of secret bonds between
women in relationship and a language only learned between the bonded \”sisters\” who have met at ayoung age,from very different families and backgrounds. Ahhhhh, the costumes and rich Asian colors and textures of the film had my heart beating quickly. The music will stay in the realms of my imagination for many dreams. The characters are each so
unique…the writer of the novel must be a very clever old spirit in a youthful body. I was stunned to see Hugh Jackman suddenly arrive as one of the main character\’s love,and I knew he had muti talents but singing in Chinese and swaying sensually was surprising and eventful. I\’m feeling change and delight in my experience of the memorable \”must see\” film. Thank you, phenomenal cast!

My sister and I read the book and we enjoyed it thoroughly. It was such a moving and rich story. I am looking forward to movie!
