If Soderbergh weren't at the helm, we would all be taking the piss out of it!

that sounds like the most generic of generic plot outlines, the sort of movie you see late at night on "movies4men"

I'm already seeing the poster - Carano, sweaty and greasy looking, bursting out of her torn camouflage tank top, guns blazing in each hand. It'll be interesting to see how this one plays out.

Oh, I reckon the actor in question is Zac Efron. (im not being funny, he was pretty good in "me and orsen welles")

Dude, get bale out of your head, he's not anywhere near this. Neither is Damon, as some has posited. Much smaller than those names. But a rising star that evidently everyone wants to work with (and evidently he gets movies greenlit and or off the ground).

As for the "fairly big name," I'll take a stab at it just for fun: Colin Farrell.

My first thought was Christian Bale because he has yet to announce his next project – hopefully it's soon – but Bale IS a big name, not fairly, right? Anyway, I hope Knockout does well so Steven can have another franchise which he can use to get the money he needs for more "different" projects.

I'm interested to see how Soderbergh presents the "Blackwater(Xe)-type" company, if the said company, it's ideals, methods are actually a significant part of the story. Hopefully it's not just glossed over as an action-movie mercenary group. I'd love to see him show some of the intricacies.

I hope McGregor's part is better than, for example, Ribisi's simple part in Avatar as the head of a ruthless company.
