GOTG isn\’t a fair analogy of breaking from the Marvel mold. While it was ostensibly set in the MCU, it was off-world and didn\’t have to adhere to anything previous. Ant-Man, however, will be back on Earth, with plans to have Scott Lang likely a bigger cog in the MCU than the Guardians (at least for the moment). Let\’s also not forget that it was Wright that bristled at the changes Marvel wanted to make to the script (of course Marvel could have handled that better), because one has to believe that after all the years of development, Marvel wanted Wright to do what he does best, as long as it fit inside the MCU sandbox. Much as I would have loved to see what Wright was going to do with Ant-Man, he wouldn\’t have had the freedom that James Gunn did.
