The most defensible choices on this subject that I've seen. There doesn't seem to be a suggestion that the order in which their given is how the writer ranks them. I would disagree if this is meant as a descending order of quality. Allie Fox is his best performance, by a clear margin. That aside, the five selections are spot on.

Also great job dealing with the honorable mentions, with only a minor transgression against THE FRISCO KID. It may not be an essential Ford performance, but "harmless fun" is an unfair description. If I were making an "Essential Gene Wilder" list, that film would be on it. The plot is a little patchwork, but Wilder is relentless.

I think the most obvious objection (besides Han Solo) that majority of fans would have here is including FRANTIC over THE FUGITIVE.

The murder in Witness occures in a train station, not a bus station. I had the opportunity to visit the AMTRAK station in Philadelpha in June 2011 and remembered the statue shown in the moviie. It is actually a tribute to railway workers who died during WW2.

these movies are great (witness is good), but han solo? come on.
ford hasn\’t made a good film since the early 90\’s. pretty sad considering.
