I remember a conversation I had with my sister who enjoyed the actress portraying Gwen, but didn't understand how Mary Jane was worked into the stories. I explained to her that Peter meets MJ later after Gwen is killed. I was about to tell her how but I decided to keep quiet hoping that the sequel would show it.

I believe it should happen, not so that Peter would move on to MJ but also to show how vicious the Norman Osborn in this version would be against Peter and to show the conflict in what being Spider-Man has done to himself as well as the people he cares for.

Also, it just opened in China yesterday which is on pace to push it closer to $800m than $700m.

Jeez, how many movies make that much ? Only a handful every year. This movie is one of the most successful films of 2012! Can't everyone let the "it's too early to reboot Spider-man nerd angst" just die already. It's only a movie, who cares if it was released *just* 5 years after the last series. So what? Get over it. There will likely be a new Batman series in 5 years time, and that's great too. Doesn't mean you can't go back and watch the old movies.
