So then, A) where did they get it, and B) why has nobody used it yet? All this time they are being persecuted yet have a weapon that can stop it all and they just keep it in a junky closet underground?

But after seeing this trailer, it's rather obvious he's trying to make a career by stealing from a single animated film – Battle Angel.

A eutopian walled off Eden that the hero must use body modifications to get to? Elysium check

Those are just the obvious.

His next film will obviously be about a bad ass roboticist who finds the torso of a young girl in a scrap heap. Oh, did I mention that both D9 and Elysium take place in scrap heaps?
