I wonder if the sudden change from pure CGI/green screens of Synder's previous films to in camera effects has to do with Nolan's influence as producer. It's well known he tries to avoid CGI as much as possible and use practical effects and sets as in Inception and The Dark Knights.
And to defend Superman Returns. I thought the flying effects were great in that film…the scene where he is saving the airplane was awesome, but the running on the ground effects sucked. Let's hope they avoid the running on the ground really fast in the new Superman. It never looks good in any film.
