If the original character was written as Asian then what’s the problem with casting an Asian? Somebody might be too busy, but somebody else is waiting!

I challenge you to a debate and I can give you a list of white washing movies and you can give me a list of minorities playing white. You gave me one list, I can easily outnumber any list you provide. I hope you accept my offer. You may say that movie mainly tries to appeal to white audience, I think it is BS. Columbia Pictures is owned by Sony, a Japanese company, so should it mean that the movies like Spider man, Terminator, James Bond, 22 Jump Street, etc. should have an all Asian cast?

I don’t get it. Casting a white person in the role of a character of x race is wrong/whitewashing. But casting black person in the role of a character that is white/other race is fine (ex: Death Note L)? Either we cast people of the appropriate race faithful to the source material, or we eliminate race entirely from the equation and cast w/e, so that casting a white person in the role of an asian isn’t an issue anymore because some asian may play the role of a white person and so on. Inb4 “but whitewashing is bad bcs it was done in the past for racist reasons”. Well it’s not done with that reason in mind today, so what’s the problem?
