I am not a film specialist: so can someone explain why a February release for The Eagle of the Ninth makes it 'pocorn fare' rather than an 'award season contender'? Is being 'popcorn fare' good or bad or just different - does pocorn fare mean something which more people will see; because if it does I am all in favour of that!

I am a Rosemary Sutcliff fan (and relative), so look forward to seeing the film whenever, as long as it is excellent! Meanwhile others might join me in reading or re-reading the book; or more about Rosemary Sutcliff and the film & book at www.rosemarysutcliff.wordpress.com
