this automatic, unqualified distain for CG is simply ignorance...there are plenty of tools sometimes used badly in film but no one crows about not using editing or sound in their film in order to distance themselves from films with shitty editing or camera work or sound design...
bad filmmaking is bad filmmaking.
there are loads of things that simply can not be done, or shouldn't be done, without CG, just as there are things that can be done, and should be done practically. the word 'appropriate' is paramount here.
the amount of so called 'invisible VFX' work in film in the last 20 years demonstrates this ignorance...that the work is done so well that it is 'invisible', no one complains about things they don't notice.
it will be VERY interesting to see what pops up when Inception comes out...will there be a Cinefex article? etc...
