"The Wettest County" is a perfect title. Even better would have been "The Wettest County in the World," which was the title of the book. It may seem strange but if you're from the south the title makes perfect sense and the meaning is immediately understood and I'm guessing they will want to target southern audiences. There are still plenty of "Dry" counties all over the south, meaning counties where the sale of alcohol is illegal. This title is a play on that. Stupid move to change the name, in my opinion.

I love the way people's brains function when it comes to fan favorites versus industry boogiemen. Harvey Weinstein wants to call a movie Lawless and it's an awful title. Terrence Malick wants to call a movie Lawless and it's brilliant. Classic internet logic at work.

I don't think anyone cares that the name was taken from a Terrence Malick production, rather that the title of an anticipated film was homogenized.

I like how you make it sound as if the fans were going crazy when you explicitly brought that point up in the title of your original post. Anyway, still a lame re-titling of the film when it had an excellent title already.
