Got a Tip?

Don Cheadle Doesn’t Know What’s Going On With ‘Armor Wars’: “I’m Not Sure Where Anything Is Right Now”

Don Cheadle is one of the longest-running veterans of the MCU. First appearing all the way back in “Iron Man 2,” Cheadle’s Rhodey has been one of the foundational stars of the cinematic universe. That’s why it wasn’t shocking to see Marvel Studios wanting to give him his own thing with “Armor Wars.” However, since it was announced that “Armor Wars” was being changed from a TV series to a feature film, we haven’t heard much about the development of the project. And, it would appear Cheadle hasn’t heard much either. Uh oh.

Speaking to TV Line, Don Cheadle was asked about the current status of his next MCU project, “Armor Wars.” This comes after rampant rumors that the film has been quietly canceled at Marvel Studios. While Cheadle didn’t say it was canceled, he sure didn’t give us much hope of it happening.

“You can find out and let me know,” said Cheadle when asked about the status of “Armor Wars.” “I don’t know, I’m not sure where anything is right now. I think things are going through a lot of changes, and we’ll see what happens, we’ll see what it is.”

Sadly, when we last saw Cheadle, it was during a scene in “Secret Invasion,” when it was revealed that Rhodey had been replaced by a shapeshifting Skrull for an unknown amount of time. Yeah, that sucks. Though, frankly, that was just one of the myriad issues with “Secret Invasion.” Needless to say, now would be a great time for Rhodey to get some redemption.

Unfortunately, no news isn’t necessarily good news when it comes to “Armor Wars.” As mentioned, the project got its start when Marvel first announced its really ambitious TV slate several years ago. However, when Bob Iger took over as Disney CEO again, there was reportedly a mandate to take a second look at what was being done for streaming and see if that could be cut down. Then came word that “Armor Wars” was being reworked as a film. But then we got word from Iger that some major films and TV projects were quietly canceled behind the scenes, leading many to wonder if “Armor Wars” was one of those shows.

Obviously, we’re not going to get a satisfying answer from Cheadle because it would appear that he doesn’t know either.
