Steve McQueen was out of the picture very early on when the original was being planned in 1978. Ryan couldn\'t persuade Diana to commit because she objected to the nude scenes that were in the original draft (by the time Whitney did it, the nude scenes had been excised from the script anyway). At this point, this movie will only be associated with the Kevin/Whitney vehicle, because it was the only one that was ever released. So you could essentially place any pop star experiencing her 15 minutes of fame in the female lead role; they\'re all disposable fluff, anyway. Me personally - I\'d like to see them take a higher road on a remake. Cast Diana Ross (a REAL legend) with Daniel Craig (a REAL man).

I think Jennifer Hudson, Pink, Christinal Agulera, Kelly Rowland, or Carrie Underwood would make a good fit for the female lead. Usher would make a great Bodyguard, adding another dimension to the role with him singing and dancing too. A little more light hearted in the new film would be good too.

I will admit I am a fan of The Bodyguard even though I know it\'s not cool to say that. But honestly, I find Kevin Costner\'s, Frank Farmer, to be one of the most interesting characters on the 90s, albeit maybe a tad underdevelpoed (but that just adds to his mystery). Part of his neatness was the casting of Kevin Costner in the role, because like you mentioned about The Family Getaway, he\'s unassuming. Not to the degree of a Seth Rogen mind you, yet that way he\'s perfectly believable. I\'ve met some Secret Service agents while working, and Costner totally fits the bill. Hope they can do the same think with this remake. Maybe someone along the lines of Guy Pearce...just not Matt Damon or Mark Wahlberg or the likes of that.
