Maybe that era is over. That would indeed be sad because pretty much all the Hollywood movie houses regurgitated the same approved plots and themes until Pixar came along.

What this film indicates is the pathetic corruption of Pixar's independence in plot and characters. We could watch Pixar films and expect new ideas and angles. Pixar has for years been a comet illuminating the cinematic firmament with new passion and direction, but it has apparently now been pulled back into the orbit of Disney’s pathetic, decades-long dominance of rebellious female teen heroes, with dim-witted, impotent fathers, saving the day by defying conventional wisdom. How original. Each Disney animated movie has exactly the same theme and Pixar appears to have sadly acquiesced to the cookie cutter’s demands. Look for Pixar’s audience to shrink to Disney Animation size if Pixar follows the failed model of DA.
