I firmly believe that much of Iron Man 3 success is a product of The Avengers momentum. (This coming from a Shane Black and Joss Wheedon fan, also IM3 is my favourite of the three)

The whole Ant Man fiasco is sad but who is to say what went on behind closed doors. I wish Edgar Wright was still on board but in the end I think Ant Man will still be a fun movie, maybe not as fun as a Wright Ant Man movie, but still fun. Derrickson apparently is a huge fan of Dr. Strange and was able to pitch the right kind of idea to Feige. Feige recetly stated that Dr. Strange is going to be an acid trip. That sounds pretty freaking awesome to me. Until we get an extremely set of awful movies from Marvel I'll be the first one in line to all their movies. Marvel is fine and with the success of Guardians I'm sure they are going to be taking bigger risk. A female super hero (Captain Marvel) has to be around the corner and the same with Black Panther. It'll happen we just have to be patient.

It's the same thing that happened with the Bond series. After 50 years of hiring journeyman directors, they enlisted Mendes for Skyfall and ended up with their highest grossing film to date. The appetite exists, time to satiate it.
