Yes, Veber's comedies are broad, but their sensibility is still distinctly French and quite different (and often slightly more sophisticated) than broad American comedies.

Veber's comedies are already extremely broad, so a remake is especially superfluous*. It's depressing they could rope in so many gifted people here.

*However, the prospect of the Will Smith-led Americanization of The Valet particularly pisses me off. (I guess that being the potential Will Smith remake that pisses me off the most and not Oldboy might require me to turn in my cineaste card.)

You can advertise a movie with "Schmucks" in the title now? That seems weird in the case of the "Couple of Dicks" ridiculousness. I guess it depends on how recognizable it is, and they figure enough people don't know "schmuck" means "penis" for it to fly.
