They can’t do anything to stop, prevent or alter the plot. They were just there to witness it, then keep quiet because it’s the best (albeit ugliest) solution anyone has come up with.

Honestly, I wish more fans would take this production to task for claiming dedication to the source material (in all those production videos, blogs, etc.) then playing so fast and loose with major, major plot points.

Don’t let them have it both ways.

Sooooo ending the possibilite of nuclear war with… nuclear war is a much better and reasonable ending? Really?

But a giant Squid would does work, becaaauuusee!

A) Its awesome! sure its cheesy but The Cramps are also cheesy and they are still awesome! (they are a rockband who are not radiohead so you might not have heard of them)

B) A giant Squid killing everyone and sending psychic shockwaves around the world making everyone crazy for no apparent reason is a very real and scary threat and people dont like That kind of scary, thus humans join together and put their bickering aside.

C) Its awesome! Its the kind of bisarr horror you would find in the mind of Peter Greenaway. (really awesome!)

Not only is the new ending boring (as in booooooring) it just dont make sence (and if it makes less sence than a giant squid..)
