If the meteor missed, humans shouldn't exist, as no mammal would have had a chance to evolve. Further, dinosaurs would still have to evolve as time passed, meaning they wouldn't look like dinosaurs any more. I generally pride Pixar on making movies where the concepts are grounded in reality, with a small twist. Not Flintstones remakes.
