\"The story unfolds through a tricky dual structure, cutting between 1999 and 1974. What made Campanella’s film even richer than its genre trappings suggest, was that it’s set against the backdrop of decades of real life corrupt Argentinian politics. Listen, nothing against Ray, but we just don’t see how his film could ever retain the rich dramatic subtext of Campanella’s film.\"

I don\'t think Ray will have a particularly tough time convincing the audience of the possibility of corruption in American politics. Why are people complaining about a solid actor and director teaming up to do a smart dramatic thriller for adults? That\'s a rarity to be cheered. Yes, many of us saw and enjoyed the original. That doesn\'t mean it didn\'t have substantial room for improvement, and I\'m certainly not offended by the idea of the story reaching a wider audience.
