Jeremy Allan White has the lead role of Bruce Springsteen in the upcoming biopic “Deliver Me From Nowhere,” but who are his co-stars? Variety reports that the actor gained three new ones this week, as Marc Maron, Gaby Hoffman, and David Krumholtz join the cast of Scott Cooper‘s film. Read on to discover who each plays in the ensemble.
Of the three, Maron’s role may be the juiciest. The comedian plays Chuck Plotkin, the music producer who mastered Springsteen‘s album “Nebraska,” transforming cassette demos into a high-quality record. Meanwhile, Krumholtz plays record exec All Teller, who oversaw the release of that album in 1982. Hoffman plays Springsteen’s mother Adele, a singer, and who recently passed away earlier this year at age 98. Maron, Hoffman, and Krumholtz join previously announced cast members Jeremy Strong, Paul Walter Hauser, Odessa Young, Stephen Graham, Johnny Cannizzaro, and Harrison Gilbertson on the 20th Century Studios film.
Based on Warren Zanes‘ 2023 book of the same name, Cooper’s film follows the iconic Springsteen at a pivotal moment in his career as he pens and creates “Nebraska,” a stripped-down record that shifted his music away from anthemic rock albums like “Born To Run” and “The River.” Production is underway in New Jersey and New York, with Cooper eyeing a 2025 theatrical release. The Springsteen role is arguably White’s biggest film one to date, after playing wrestler Kerry Von Erich in last year’s “The Iron Claw.”
Maron’s acting career has gotten a boost in recent years with turns in “The Bad Guys,” “To Leslie,” and Justin Kurzel‘s “The Order,” in theaters next month. Audiences may recognize Hoffman from childhood roles in “Fields Of Dreams” and “Uncle Buck,” or more recent turns in “C’mon C’mon,” “Louie,” and “Girls.” Krumholtz had a memorable turn in last year’s “Oppenheimer,” with other recent work including “The Ballad Of Buster Scruggs,” Disney+‘s “The Santa Clause,” and the upcoming A24 horror pic “Altar.”
Stay tuned for an official theatrical release date for “Deliver Me From Nowhere” as shooting on the film continues.
