@ zxcvb I will say this: I interviewed DGG a lot in the early indie days. I loved his films. And then he would tell me all these aspirations for comedies and mainstream movies, his love for the Goonies, etc. his genuine love for movies -- his eclectic taste -- and i was like, \"huh.\" But he did it. It was his hope and his plan all along. He really wanted to broaden his horizons and try anything and everything and i remember during All The Real Girls he told me wanted the career modelled after the eclecticism of Soderbergh of Gus Van Sant.

So yeah, at least dude basically accomplished what he set out to do, though yeah, he has done 3 comedies in a row. But he realizes that and he\'s likely going to do a horror next.

Wow-can\'t believe he\'s getting any work after the debacle that I saw last night in NY. Your Highness will probably be a top contender at the Golden Raspberries next year. A real mess-loud, crude and really unfunny. I just kept thinking how many poor countries could have benefited from all the money they spent on this mess.

What with the anger about Lena Durham\'s inclusion into Criterion\'s Collection, DGG is a great reminder that we do have a bright, young filmmaker who embraces and creates cinema that isn\'t locked into any one particular genre, aesthetic or \"style\" of film, unlike Durham\'s \"I can\'t watch people who are \'acting\'\" comment from that Village Voice interview.

His earliest interviews were straight, art-film nerd diatribes, but from someone who admittedly loved 80\'s action films and who believed in expanding beyond the \"indie\" scene (his comments on \"coffee-shop\" indie romances were hilarious).

So yeah, DGG deserves all the work and the accolades.

Also:

Mindy Kaling/Kristen Wiig/any other female comedienne or writer > Lena Durham.

What would happen to this website if David Gordon Greene and Edgar Wright co-directed a movie together? What if Duncan Jones wrote the screenplay? What if Michelle Williams and Joseph Gordon Levitt were attached? Would the site actually melt down and destroy the Internet?
