Just found this interview with him where he says the medieval movie is an adaptation of a book called The Dwarves that he wants to make with--who else--Peter Dinklage. It also seems to suggest that the Goat adaptation is still happening whenever financing comes through.
http://www.reelzchannel.com/article/536/exclusive-interview-with-david-gordon-green

Found it...turns out they were talking about the sci-fi epic:
http://www.filmfreakcentral.net/notes/alltherealgirlsinterview.htm

Tell me about this idea of yours to do a Tarkovsky-like sci-fi movie.
DGG: I really want someone to give me money to do that. It'd be a movie starring Paul Rudd--it'd be three-hours long.
PS: I play a male nurse in it.
DGG: Right, you play "Erickson" in it. George Smith is this buddy of ours, this writer who's this amazing cinematographer and he wrote this screenplay that just blows my mind. He's too smart. It's about finding the right time to make that film, y'know.
PS: George is the kind of guy who'll write the Great American Novel and they'll find him mowing a lawn or something for a living. He's spinning off this stuff, smarter than all of us, and he doesn't seem to care--it's not fair, I mean, for those of us who try so hard.

Thanks. It wouldn't surprise me if I missed something he literally has sooo many damn ideas. Whether all or any of them come to fruition remains to be seen, but it's fun to chart them.

I will start googling for this Paul Rudd project. I might have even read about it years before and not have kept it in the noggin' - lord knows i've read a shiton of DGG interviews.

Wow, great piece. Wasn't there something they mentioned to the AV Club starring Paul Rudd, back during press for ATRG? I hope he can get that production company started. I was just listening to "The Limey" commentary the other day and Lem Dobbs talks about how there are no more movie companies who make cheap, schlocky but GOOD exploitation movies like there were in the '70s. Sounds like Green wants to bring that idea back. Would love to see the "Smokey and the Bandit" type movie come to fruition.
