This is a brilliant piece of filmmaking. Fincher's "Girl.." outshines the original by a wide margin. I say that as a surprise myself in that I thought Niels Arden's version was excellent. But just as with "Let The Right One In" and "Let me In" the American versions are more intricately layered, visual rich and better acted than the original Swedish films. I loved
Noomi Rapace's Lisbeth. But embedded in this written character is such a rich and fertile landscape for any talented actor. Rooney Mara's Lisbeth runs deeper still. Both excellent films, but this is Fincher's best work to date.

it was a waste of money, unattractive and deeply disturbing and Mara should have played a super hero because she comes over as completely unaffected from the gruesome Rape and the way she did mark that guy...I'm so disappointed that Fincher touched that story and know he has sold out now

Sadly, the opening credit scene (which is very much just a music video for immigrant song, and a much better one than the official one) was the best thing about the film IMO. Don't get me wrong, I love fincher and was hoping for the best. I never saw the original film cause I didn't want it tainted, but the story just never grabbed me. I loved the character of lisbeth and loved Mara Rooney, but the rest tried to act grander than it is. Zodiac this isn't.
