This whole thing is rather funny. That some folks are agitated & they have a right to a public figures life.

I love Fincher’s answer – a resounding no.

You called it what it is, an “Infection”. Very much like Agent Smith said: “It’s a virus”. And it (social Media / etc) is leaching the vitality out of the whole Human race.

Fincher is the shit. Still can’t believe that nobodies like Inarritu (5 oscars, SERIOUSLY?????),Del Toro,and Hooper have won oscars, and a filmmaking icon like Fincher( who has made timeless classics) hasn’t.
Further proof of the irrelevance of these award shows, which are political things of the moment, as opposed to being something lasting or memorable.

A big part of being a successful director is being able to clearly understand what types of projects you do and don’t have an instinct for. It may well be that Fincher doesn’t have the time, energy, or inclination to moderate his own voice on social media, to watch his every word, comma, and emoji for fear of offending, or to pretend he cares what you, I, and all of the strangers in the world think about him or his projects. It could also be that he is self aware enough to understand that he has been known on occasion to be brusque, arrogant, and impatient and that those qualities would only be amplified on social media to his own detriment.
