I have no idea who David Duchovny is, but as a 13 year old I knew Edwin Maher when he worked as an extremely competent journalist for Radio Station 5MV in Renmark (circa 1962-3 - my father managed the station). Edwin was a fascinating man who was always accessible, and with whom I could discuss the arts and the latest cinema (we had an enlightening conversation on "kitchen sink"dramas). Perhaps a featured episode in the film might be the day a large goanna invaded Radio 5MV,and Edwin, from NZ, had no idea what it was or what it was capable of (it was up to my father, all 20 stone of him, to catch it.)

Hugh Jackman? Have you seen the pictures of Maher? Thin and drawn. Don't think Wolverine fits that image!

Also it might all be terribly interesting from Maher's own point of view. But beyond that, and those who used to watch him present the weather on TV in a city down-under, it wouldn't make for a great picture. Among other things, where's the second act?

Geoffrey Rush or James Cromwell would be a good fit for Edwin Maher.

I also think Hugh Jackman could be great in the role (with some The Insider type make-up) and maybe Peter Weir to direct.

(this is my ideal casting though it would never happen given Duchovny's involvement)

Brett
