I don’t know. Even if adjusted, it doesn’t seem to me the studios back then would spend half the budget of an average drama in a horror movie. But of course, I may be wrong.
Also, horror seems to be the least expensive genre.

Say what you want about Tom Cruise, he may be wacky in real life but I find his on-screen persona extremely watchable and the quality of most movies he appears in is exceptional, he puts in massive effort every time.

I doubt they want to see a franchise built around characters that are mostly in public domain. Characters that are more suited to atmospheric Gothic horror than big budget action movies featuring people jumping out of planes and big explosions.

I’m still not clear how this universe is supposed to be connected? What is the common thread that binds them all? Is Tom Cruise going to be in all of them fighting all the monsters one by one like a Fox Mulder or Karl Kolchak? Are the monsters all going to team up eventually and fight some common threat? Each other?
