As Belfort and the FBI are arguing about whether he will indict his friends, he sees her waiting in the corridor with her new husband and the FBI explain that they are working their way through the case. In effect, they use her as bait for Belfort to rat on his colleagues. However, she doesn't come back in the shooting script. She would not have shot added material for the ending, a point that she says herself. The original sequence didn't "change the shape of the movie" at all. It simply attempted to add sympathy for Belfort, something that the deletion of her character avoids.
