I think what billy said and what I feel is that they only considered a black director for a black lead film instead of having Ryan be an option for any marvel film. What about having Ryan direct a new iron man forcexample and a white female director for black panther? I guess im happy female and black directors are getting jobs but they only consider them so people dont go all shouting at them for being racist. Why cant a female director get a batman film for example? Duvernay is ten times better than hack Zack Snyder

Coogler is the right man for the job – any job, really. The guy is super talented. But if there\’s one thing I hate most about the way in which these superhero movies are choosing directors, it\’s that directors like Coogler or Michelle MacLaren are only being considered for "that black superhero movie" and "that female superhero" movie, respectively. I mean, Michelle MacLaren is a director that should be at the top of EVERY studio\’s list. It\’s a crime that the only conversation we\’ve ever heard her name in has been for Wonder Woman (which, no surprise, she parted ways with).

What David Topper said. I believe we should consider directors of any gender and race to **any** project out there. It\’s about talent. Talented people come from all places, genders and races. Casting someone or giving a job to someone just because of their race, as if to fill a quota, is just positive racism. Coogler is pretty talented and he should be in consideration for any project out there, not just "race-themed" projects like this one. So if you think I\’m a racist for advocating for talent before prejudice, be my guest. I\’m not scared of the PC police.
