I found The Conjuring was more enjoyable than Insidious and I was really skeptical toward both before actually seeing them. Then the Insidious sequels rolled out and didn’t really capitalize on anything interesting (aside from trying to turn Elise into some spiritualist superhero, which just seems out of place for the tone they set with the first film) and I began to worry about the sequel for the Conjuring as a result.

All told, I’ll see it (because I always do, whether it’s by the time it hits home release or not) but the damning of the story quality depresses me. Almost on the same level of Annabelle, where the story hinted at something more interesting than what was actually translated to film (a godawful and unbelievably boring one at that). Lightning doesn’t strike twice with these films, I guess.
