Direction was TERRIBLE, too over the top, stuffing emotion down our throats. Even the opening credits did the same (once I saw them I knew what I was in for. The last third when Daniels cut out the shit was a much better movie.

You were also spot on with inconsistencies with the time period.

Better not hear his name for direct on Oscar night (I would say the same for the film, but I know it will be there if not for being such a sad story, the Academy will eat it up).

and now I read that he's jonesing to ruin one of the best musicals to ever grace Broadway. someone please keep him away. even Burton, who probably does both crack and pot when he's getting artistic, is a better choice for Miss Saigon than Daniels

All the screaming and clapping was just there for show and extremely annoying.

I would like to go see this film in a quiet theater and see how it plays. I have a feeling it will be better, though certainly not a gem

It sounds like a film made for evoking Oscar voter emotions more than about a specific substance.

Daniels comments about Monster's Ball are pure BS. From the shot selections that I've seen in this trailer, I wouldn't really want to give this film to Daniels at all.
